How to Make a Peanut Butter and Jelly Shot

Making a Peanut Butter and Jelly shot – or even a round to share – is super easy. First, you’ll need some peanut butter whiskey. Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey is the best-known brand, but there are others. As you’ll see below, you can also use any other nut-flavored liqueur. You’ll also need some raspberry liqueur to recreate the jelly flavor. Most recipes call for Chambord, but that liqueur can be quite pricey. Unless you have some on hand already, you can go with a less expensive brand.

When you’re ready to mix up your cocktails, gather your equipment – a cocktail shaker, ice, and a pair of tall shot glasses. Fill the cocktail shaker with ice, then add 1½ ounces each of the peanut butter whiskey and raspberry liqueur. Shake to combine and chill, then pour evenly into two shot glasses.

If you want to scale this recipe up to serve a crowd, that’s easy to do, too. Just use equal quantities of each liqueur and pour out as many shots as you need. To make four shots, for example, use 3 ounces each of whiskey and liqueur. Multiply as necessary to serve as many guests as you have.

This variation works great if you don’t have a cocktail shaker or just want to show off your bar skills. To make it, pour ¾ ounce of Skrewball whiskey into the bottom of a tall shot glass. Next, pour ¾ ounce of raspberry liqueur over the back of a bar spoon into the shot glass to create a layered shot. Garnish as desired, slam as usual.

Creamy Peanut Butter and Jelly Shot

Try this variation if you want a little more creaminess out of your peanut butter. In a tall shot glass, pour ½ ounce of peanut butter whiskey, then layer ½ ounce raspberry liqueur on top, followed by ½ ounce of Irish cream. This variation makes a great cocktail, too. Just double the recipe, shake in a cocktail shaker, and pour over ice in an old fashioned glass.

Allergy-Friendly Peanut Butter and Jelly Shot

If you’re allergic to peanuts, replace the peanut butter whiskey with Frangelico, a hazelnut liqueur. Hazelnuts are tree nuts, but because they’re only infused into the distillate during production, Frangelico contains no hazelnut allergens. This variation is a great way to enjoy the sweet taste of PB&J without the allergy risk.
